Suspect caught in bank robbery

UPDATE: 3:12 pm: On 12-29-2010 at 10:45 am Cole County Sheriff’s deputies, Jefferson City Police officers, Missouri State Highway Patrol officers and the FBI stopped a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the Hawthorn Bank West robbery on 12-28-2010 in the 3500 block of Hwy 50 West near the Capital Mall.

A 38-year-old Cole County resident was taken into custody without incident and was brought to the Jefferson City Police Department for questioning.

The interview eventually led to the arrest of this person for the robbery at Hawthorn Bank West as well as the robbery on 12-20-2010 of the Missouri Credit Union on West Edgewood.

A search of the suspect’s vehicle and home provided law enforcement with evidence of both crimes. The investigation is continuing at this time.

The suspect is currently in the Cole County jail awaiting charges.

UPDATE 2:49 pm: The arrest of a 38-year-old female suspect in connection with Tuesday night’s bank robbery has produced more results that originally thought.

Captain Bob Cynova with the Jefferson City Police Department said the suspect who was arrested by Jefferson City police officers and Cole County deputies on U.S. Highway 54 West has been linked to the Dec. 20 robbery at the Missouri Credit Union on West Edgewood Drive.

Officers searched the suspect’s home and vehicle, where they found evidence implicating her in the earlier incident.

The suspect is currently in the Cole County Jail awaiting charges.

ORIGINAL: The Jefferson City Police Department announced Wednesday that a suspect has been taken into custody in relation to Tuesday’s bank robbery at on West Truman Boulevard.

In a press release, JCPD spokesman Capt. Bob Cynova announced that, in a joint effort with the Cole County Sheriff’s Department, a 38-year-old female driving a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used during the bank robbery at the Jefferson City Hawthorn Bank on West Truman Boulevard was stopped on U.S. Highway 50 West near the Jamestown exit.

The Sherrif’s Department and the FBI are continuing to work on the case.

Male, female, whatever. Good luck convincing 12 to convict on an unidentifiable person with a black ski mask. It's all circumstancial at best.

Circumstantial is not enough,,but sometimes it will tie them to other evidence. If they are poor, they get a public defender which will plea for you or let you go to jail for a while. Any good lawyer will get you off with only circumstantial evidence. Graceful,,you watch too many television shows!

i'm glad they caught the suspect. it seems to me that JC has big city problems with none of the small city charm. for a small city/town, there is apparently a lot of crime.

I'm happy that the suspect was arrested. I wish the JCPD would put in the same level of effort in solving "lesser" crimes. It seems as though too many resources are allocated to non-critical tasks.
