Police: Arizona lawmaker Pratt attacked at business

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona state lawmaker was attacked and beaten into unconsciousness Christmas Day at his business in Casa Grande.

Pinal County Sheriff's spokesman Tim Gaffney says Rep. Frank Pratt of Casa Grande was in stable condition Sunday at a Phoenix-area hospital with bruises and contusions.

He says the attack occurred after the 68-year-old lawmaker stopped by Pratt Pools and was confronted by someone already inside.

Pratt was tied up after the beating and found Saturday evening by his wife.

Gaffney says the suspect fled in Pratt's SUV. There was no word if police had identified a suspect, if the attack was random or if anything else was stolen.

Pratt, a Republican from Casa Grande, represents District 23 in the Arizona House.
