Jefferson City-area friends and family of University of Connecticut basketball sensation Maya Moore are closely following her collegiate career as she leads her team during a record-breaking season.
Last Tuesday, the 6-foot forward and former Jefferson City resident led her team to its 89th consecutive victory, the longest winning streak by a major collegiate basketball team, male or female. She finished with a career-high 41 points in the record-setting win.
Moore’s relatives in Jefferson City and Holts Summit say the energetic kid who was a “handful,” is now Christ-centered and humble.

Awesome story! We love our Maya and we are so proud of what she has done. Small point of correction, she was indeed a "handful" as a kid (like the Energizer Bunny!) but she was always Christ-centered from the time she could talk. That has never changed. I'm very happy to see the Tribune acknowledging our hometown kid! Hat's off to you!
