PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Nikolay Zherdev scored two goals and Brian Boucher stopped 24 shots in the Philadelphia Flyers' 4-1 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Andreas Nodl and Ville Leino also scored for the Flyers (21-13-1), who have won five straight and seven of eight. They have 49 points, best in the NHL.
Boucher has gone 6-0-1 in his last seven starts, including four of the previous five games, as the Flyers ended New York's three-game winning streak.
Zherdev scored Philadelphia's first goal just after serving a two-minute penalty for cross checking. Zherdev scored his second goal on a power play, giving him 13 this season, including goals in three straight games.
Rookie Derek Stepan had the only goal for the Rangers.
Bruins 3, Capitals 2
BOSTON (AP) - Andrew Ference scored his first goal in 100 games to help Boston send Washington to its eighth straight loss.
The Bruins led 3-0 after one period and held on as the Capitals cut the deficit to one goal, outshooting Boston 26-2 in the third period. Tim Thomas made 39 saves in all, including a stop on Alex Ovechkin with 11 seconds left while Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth was off for an extra skater.
Neuvirth made 18 saves, but he spotted the Bruins an early lead and forced Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau to use his timeout in the first period.
Patrice Bergeron and Blake Wheeler each had a goal and an assist for Boston.
Matt Bradley and Karl Alzner scored for Washington, which has scored just 11 goals in eight games (0-6-2) since Dec. 1.
Thrashers 7, Devils 1
ATLANTA (AP) - Eric Boulton scored three times for his first career NHL hat trick, Chris Thorburn added a goal and two assists, and Atlanta routed reeling New Jersey.
Former Atlanta captain Ilya Kovalchuk scored a power-play goal in the second period for the Devils, who have dropped 11 of 15 overall and eight straight on the road.
Ron Hainsey, Boulton and Evander Kane gave the Thrashers a 3-0 lead with first-period goals. Atlanta, which has won three of five, earned its 22nd point in the last 15 games.
Combined with Washington's loss to Boston, the Thrashers' victory moved them into first place in the Southeast Division.
Andrew Ladd's wrister 6:37 into the second put Atlanta ahead 4-0, and Devils goalie Martin Brodeur was replaced less than a minute later.
Johan Hedberg replaced Brodeur (5-14-1), who stopped 11 of 15 shots. Hedberg made four saves on seven shots.
Hurricanes 4, Ducks 2
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Eric Staal scored three goals for Carolina, which held on to beat Anaheim and extend its season-best winning streak to four.
Staal scored two power-play goals during his natural hat trick - the 12th three-goal game of his career. Jussi Jokinen had two assists, and Joe Corvo scored an empty-netter for Carolina.
Ryan Getzlaf scored his second goal with 1:48 left to make it a one-goal game. Jonas Hiller finished with 28 saves for the Ducks, who lost their second straight.
Cam Ward stopped 43 shots - including 39 in a row - for the Hurricanes, who returned home after winning the final three games of a five-game trip.
Coyotes 4, Islanders 3, SO
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Kyle Turris scored Phoenix's third goal of the shootout and the Coyotes rallied to beat the New York Islanders.
Coyotes captain Shane Doan and Radim Vrbata also scored for Phoenix, which got the tying goal from Martin Hanzal with 1:28 left in regulation against goalie Nathan Lawson, who made his NHL debut.
Hanzal, Vrbata, and Wojtek Wolski also scored in regulation. Jason LaBarbera made 41 saves in his second consecutive start in place of ailing goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.
The Coyotes went 1-1-1 against the three New York-area teams, and bounced back from Thursday night's shootout loss to the Rangers.
Jesse Joensuu, Michael Grabner and Rob Schremp had goals for the Islanders, who were looking for their second straight win following a six-game losing streak. Lawson, recalled from Bridgeport of the AHL earlier Saturday, made 32 saves.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Brad Richards scored twice and Dallas benefited from a controversial call to beat Columbus.
Richards netted the winner at 6:17 of the third period on a hard, low wrist shot from the top of the left circle that eluded goalie Mathieu Garon while the teams were each a man down.
Fedor Tyutin scored for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four in a row and 10 of 12.
Referee Chris Rooney waved off Derek Dorsett's goal in the second period, saying Columbus' Ethan Moreau interfered with goalie Kari Lehtonen outside the crease.
The Stars have earned points in 11 of 13 games (9-2-2).
Lightning 3, Sabres 1
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Steven Stamkos scored his 25th goal of the season, Martin St. Louis had an empty-net goal and two assists, and Tampa Bay topped Buffalo.
Tampa Bay also got a goal from Simon Gagne. Mike Smith stopped 22 shots to help the Lightning win for just the second time in their last 11 homes games against Buffalo.
Jason Pominville had a goal, and Ryan Miller made 34 saves for the Sabres. Miller was pulled after allowing four goals on 10 shots in the first period of the Sabres' 6-2 loss Friday night at Florida.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Rookie Logan Couture scored twice to lead San Jose to a victory over St. Louis.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic had a goal and an assist, Dan Boyle and Joe Pavelski each added two assists, and Devin Setoguchi scored his third goal in two games for the Sharks, who finished a stretch of 10 road games in their last 13 overall.
Antero Niittymaki (11-3-3) made 21 saves.
David Backes scored a penalty-shot goal for St. Louis.
Kings 6, Predators 1
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) - Ryan Smyth scored twice and Los Angeles broke loose for four goals in the first period of a rout against Nashville.
The Predators' season-high five-game winning streak was snapped. Nashville was 8-0-2 in its previous 10 games, tying a franchise record for consecutive games with a point.
Justin Williams, Trevor Lewis and Drew Doughty all scored for the Kings before the game was 10 minutes old, quickly ending the night for goalie Anders Lindback.
Alexei Ponikarovsky had the other goal for Los Angeles, which has won five of seven. Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves, improving to 3-0 against the Predators.
Steve Sullivan scored for Nashville.
Making his eighth consecutive start in place of the injured Pekka Rinne, Lindback was lifted at 9:59 of the first for fellow rookie Mark Dekanich, who made his NHL debut. Lindback allowed three goals on nine shots.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Alex Burrows scored with 1:07 left in the first period, Jannik Hansen scored with 2:06 remaining in the second, and Vancouver beat Toronto.
Mikhail Grabovski made it 2-1 8:14 into the third, but Christian Ehrhoff restored the Canucks' two-goal lead with five minutes left. Henrik Sedin scored into an empty net with 30.7 seconds remaining.
Roberto Luongo finished with 27 saves for Vancouver, 8-1-1 in its last 10 games.
Jonas Gustavsson started in place of injured goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere and made 25 saves for Toronto, which has lost eight straight to the Canucks since 2003.
Wild 3, Flames 1
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Mikko Koivu had a goal and two assists for Minnesota, which opened up a home-and-home series by beating Calgary.
Antti Miettinen and Chuck Kobasew also scored for the Wild, and Niklas Backstrom made 28 saves - including 14 in the third period.
Matt Stajan had the only goal for the Flames.
The Northwest Division rivals will meet again Monday night in Minnesota.
Stajan broke Backstrom's shutout bid at 14:43 of the third period with his second goal in 45 games, dating to last season.
