ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Police Department says a 16-year veteran of the department found dead at the riverfront apparently killed himself.
The department said the body of Sgt. William Vize was found early Saturday outside his squad car on a street near the Mississippi River. The Police Department said an investigation was being conducted, but the death appears to be a suicide.
Police said Vize apparently used his duty weapon to shoot himself. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the pistol was found near the body.
