Jefferson City Council to consider rescinding surtax deal

At Friday afternoon’s brown bag meeting of the Jefferson City Council, Mayor John Landwehr discussed a bill that will be introduced to formally rescind the city’s agreement with the county.

Although the city technically rescinded the offer earlier this month when the council voted to file a lawsuit on behalf of the city against the county to recover five years’ worth of incorrectly distributed surtax funds, the bill that will be introduced at Monday night’s meeting will be a more official action.
