Chiefs QB Cassel still uncertain for Sunday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A doctor will be at Matt Cassel's side in St. Louis on Sunday to provide final advice on whether Kansas City's quarterback should play 11 days after an emergency appendectomy.

Coach Todd Haley says Cassel's availability against the Rams remains uncertain. He was limited in practice again Friday and officially listed as questionable.

In the early part of drills that reporters are allowed to watch, Cassel appeared to be throwing the ball without problem. But he did not take full part in the pre-workout stretching exercises.

The Chiefs (8-5) must beat the Rams to remain alone in first place in the AFC West. Haley said a decision between Cassel and backup Brodie Croyle would probably not be made until just before the game.

Cassel sat out last week against the Chargers while the Chiefs, behind Croyle, had one of their worst offensive showings ever and lost 31-0.
