A few minutes after officers arrived at the restaurant, 911 dispatchers put out a call about the suspect, a 47-year-old Jefferson City male. He was taken into custody in the area of U.S. 54 and Christy Drive, shortly after fleeing the shooting scene.

The victim was taken to Capital Region Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Names of the victim and the suspect were not released pending notification of relatives, but police did confirm the two were known to one another.

Wow, great advertising NT. I'm reading the story above while a McDonalds ad cycles along the right side of the page. Real classy! Just one more reason I refuse to buy this rag. The guy shot his wife...but hey pay-per-click revenue is good at the NT.

The accusation is without merit, but let's please avoid delving into personal insults. Various businesses advertise in various places throughout the site. No conscious nor automated choice was made to place a business' ad on a news story with that business' name as a keyword in it. Ads sometimes wind up next to tragic news, but their random placement is meant merely to support the overall distribution of general information to readers. They should be considered separate from news content. --Rick Brown, online editor, News Tribune
