why in the world are Jefferson City school's closed, it isn't even that bad out, crazy school district!

It may not be that bad out, but what about those rural roads that might not get as much attention as the main roads. Or perhaps neighborhoods with steep hills. Would you want a bus trying to navigate those roads with the children?

I am in my early 30’s and we very rarely got out of school when I was younger and the roads were a heck of a lot worse than they are today and I rode the bus, they are called snow routs and we all lived. They treat kids now days with such delicate hands, it is crazy!

Been way too may school bus wrecks this year so far, why add the chance of a fatal one. 15 years ago when newone was in school, there weren't as may cars on the roads, especially seeing how fast they could drift around the round-a-bout.

It is all about liability now a days, school systems just don't want the law suits that folks bring for scratches on their precious.

Newone, I used to walk in 10 foot drifts to school too, but ya know, ole man usta died!

lol...are you serious herewego?? Not as many cars as 15 years ago, you make it sound like I grew up in the 40's!! There were just as many cars then and there are now and yes I have seen how many bus wrecks their have been this year and what is crazy is that they have been on dry pavement so should we just stop running busses in fear that they might crash, get real!!

Early 30's minus 15 indicates that you were 15 and in school. Do the math. Sorry if I offended you on your age, but I was 'just doing the math'. Some of the bus wrecks were on wet slippery roads, yes some were on dry pavement. bottom line, I'd rather the schools ere on the safe side rather than risk our children, Sorry if you had to find alternate child care today. I had the same problem several years ago when my kids were in school. (they rode the bus too)

Why don't school administrators get off their lazy butts and have alternative online educational activities available for snow days so students can continue their learning from home?

It amazes me how short-sighted and ignorant people are, and how a little bit of weather can so easily shut down our educational system. No wonder United States students are ranked #26 behind 25 other countries that have figured out a better way to educate their kids. The US is still using an 1800s model.

Thanks for the name-calling.

Can you cite facts that these students do not have computers at home? I suspect you might be very surprised.

Shame on any parent that does not provide internet access for their students in this day and age. If this is true- no wonder the education of students in the USA is ranked #26 in the world. What parent would hate his/her kids to deny them the use of the world wide web? That is borderline abuse in holding their kids back from being able to compete in the 21st century world economy.

You did not offend me on my age at all, I graduated in 1997..not that long ago. What gets me is that the city busses ran just fine so why can they run and it be ok and not the school busses..and they run the risk of getting hurt every time they step on that bus, that has been shown a lot of times this year.

Good thing they didn't try to access road to Khols, nice Escalade took a short cut from Mo Blvd to the parking lot, over the edge. (on KRCG news at 5) There's no easy answer to hold school or not, glad I don't have to make it.

Newone we live in a new age.. school officials think liability 1st. If one student gets hurt seriously or loses their life over weather related call for school , they will get sued by 95 per cent of parents now a days. Is it right ????? No, but why take a chance when you have 1500 drivers, the odds are not in your favor ? Truth be told newone, the school officials take more heat from parents , when they have school on a day like this than when they do when they call it off . It makes the same parents that sue feel like the district is putting their precious one in harm's way, so you can't win either way on this call. By the way, I do not see a lot of complainers about school off in this blog besides you .

And your point is runforest? I simply made a statement that it was crazy they called school off, it wasn't that bad.
