Lady Jays, Helias ready for annual showdown

The Jefferson City Lady Jays learned a valuable lesson heading into tonight’s game against the Helias Lady Crusaders.

Actually, they learned it twice. Painfully, twice.

“We have to be ready to play a full 32 minutes,” Lady Jays coach Shane Meyer said as the crosstown rivals prepared for the 7:30 p.m. game at Fleming Fieldhouse. “And you never know, maybe more than that.”

The Lady Jays (3-2) are coming off a 63-53 home loss Tuesday night to Glendale. Helias (1-2) hasn’t played since Dec. 6, when the Lady Crusaders posted a 60-39 victory at Lebanon.
