Tuesday's Top 25 Men's College Basketball Capsules

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Keith Benson had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Oakland beat No. 7 Tennessee 89-82 on Tuesday night, three days after losing by a point to then-No. 7 Michigan State.

The defending Summit League champion had already been almost too much for the Spartans, Illinois and Purdue to handle before grabbing only their second win over a ranked opponent in 27 tries since joining Division I in the 1998-99 season.

It was the second time the Volunteers lost on their home court to a non-conference opponent in coach Bruce Pearl's six seasons. The loss came one day after Tennessee climbed into the Top 10 and grabbed the No. 1 RPI after beating then-No. 3 Pittsburgh.

The Vols held a 76-68 lead with 7:18 left. Oakland (6-5) used a 13-0 run of mostly free throws and took an 81-76 lead.

Tennessee (7-1) missed four free throws and a few 3-pointers down the stretch.

Brian Williams led the Vols with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Drexel 52, No. 20 Louisville 46

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Gerald Colds scored 20 points and Drexel handed Louisville its first loss in their new downtown arena.

Chris Fouch added 10 points for the Dragons (7-1), who ended Louisville's best start in 14 years.

The Cardinals (8-1) shot 32 percent and were outrebounded 46-26.

Preston Knowles and Peyton Siva led Louisville with 13 points each but the Cardinals made one field goal over the final 8:30 as the Dragons posted their first win over a Top 25 team since 2006.

Louisville had eight straight wins at the KFC Yum! Center to start the season and enter the rankings.

No. 22 Texas 70, North Florida 48

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Gary Johnson scored 17 points and tied his career-high with 12 rebounds for Texas.

Cory Joseph scored 18 points for the Longhorns and hit 4 of 8 3-point attempts for the Longhorns (8-2).

Texas led by 19 points at halftime and shook off a long scoring drought in the second half by holding North Florida to 28 percent shooting and outrebounding the Ospreys 51-34.

Brian Holmes and Jerron Granberry each scored 10 points for North Florida (4-6).

Texas has won 25 straight at home against non-conference opponents but now goes on the road to face North Carolina in Greensboro on Saturday and No. 14 Michigan State on Dec. 22. Coppin State, Arkansas and No. 4 Connecticut at home round out the schedule before the start of Big 12 play on Jan. 11.
