Jesus, Mary, Joseph stolen from Nativity scene

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The Nativity scene at Hope Lutheran School in St. Louis now shows crafted child figures worshipping a couple of metal stakes.

That's because someone stole the figures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

The scene was intact as of Saturday evening after the school's annual craft fair. On Sunday morning, a member of the church reported the holy family was missing.

The wooden figures cost about $100 to make. The Joseph cutout is about 4 feet tall, Mary is 3 feet tall and Jesus and the manger are 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide.

Church leaders believe adults took the figures because cutting tools were necessary to get them out.
