6 indicted for Nov. 6 burglary

The Cole County Grand Jury has indicted six Jefferson City residents in connection with a home burglary in November.

According to court documents, Paulo S. Cunningham, 19, of 210 John St.; Edward Caffey, 18, of 216 E. Ashley St.; David Jefferson, 18, of 514 E. Elm St.; Shawnelle Yarbrough, 17, of 414 E. Ashley St.; Brandon Harris, 20, of 1204 Westview Drive; and Evan Hake, 18, of 311 E. Ashley St., are each charged with one count of first-degree burglary.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the crime occurred on Nov. 6 around 1:32 a.m. at a residence in the 2500 block of Foxbar Terrace.

Four to five suspects were seen leaving the residence, holding a television and other items.

A short time later, the victim of the theft contacted police and reported a home invasion by six suspects. Information was also given about a vehicle seen leaving the area.

Within minutes of the vehicle description being given out, officers located and stopped a suspect vehicle, finding items belonging to the victim.

Those inside the vehicle were arrested, and most of the stolen items were recovered from the vehicle or were in the possession of the vehicle occupants.

Some of the suspects admitted to participating in the theft, and some admitted they had discussed committing the theft for two days because one of the suspects is familiar with the victim.

One of the suspects told officers the decision was made to commit the burglary because some of them needed rent money.
