Water line repairs to close Jefferson City street

Starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Missouri American Water Company and contractor Twehous Excavating will have Swifts Highway closed at Jefferson Street for street repair work after a recent water leak.

The street is scheduled to reopen the same day by 5 p.m., weather and construction progress permitting.

Motorists should avoid the area.

I'd love to see a list of all the water main breaks in the last 12 months. The 800-pound gorilla in the room is that Jefferson City's water mains are crumbling and no one is concerned, let alone even know about it.

There are some streets over on the east end that average more than one break a week. Every now and then the newspaper puts a picture of a sinkhole, but what about the other sinkholes that never get publicized.

A quiet dirty little secret. Meanwhile the council fiddles with tatoo parlors while the city infrastructure is crumbling.

The city council is a JOKE. A very sick joke, too.

Uptown got all new infrastructure a few years ago. Surely there cannot be any other infrastructure necessities in our fair city.
