A northwest Missouri crop producer has been elected president of the state's largest farm organization.
Blake Hurst of Westboro was picked Tuesday at the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation's annual meeting. He succeeds outgoing president Charlie Kruse.
Hurst has served as the organization's vice president for seven years and was a board member for the eight years before that.
Hurst is 53 years old. He and his wife, Julie, farm 4,500 acres of no-till crops in a family operation along with his father, two brothers, nephew and son-in law.
Hurst also is a freelance writer and has authored a collection of essays in the book "Real Life."
