JCPD to step up DWI enforcement

This week, Jefferson City police will be cracking down on drunk driving with increased patrols as part of a statewide DWI enforcement effort.

Then, from Dec. 16 through Jan. 3, they'll take part in the Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest, National Crackdown.

December is National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month and Jefferson City police will have extra officers on patrol all month watching for impaired drivers.

The additional officers will be funded through a grant from MoDOT's Highway Safety Division.

Officials at JCPD ask citizens to call Sober Driver at 636-7102 for a free ride home if you are impaired or if you are with a driver that is impaired.

Holiday party hosts can obtain Sober Driver tickets by contacting Fechtel Beverage at 636-5161 or Sgt. Jeff Stiefermann at 634-6397.
