Fire damages Fulton residence

The Fulton Fire Department was dispatched for a residential structure fire at 521 S. Westminster Ave. at 8:45 pm. Sunday.

Upon arriving, firefighters found heavy smoke showing. The first attack team found flames in the basement and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes of arrival.

No occupants were in the residence prior to arrival. Firefighters reported finding smoke detectors in the residence but none were working on their arrival.

There was extensive fire damage in the basement and extensive smoke damage to the entire residence. Damage estimates are about $50,000.

Fulton police assisted with traffic control. The fire was investigated by Fulton fire investigators. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in the basement of the residence.
