Saturday's Golf Capsules

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - Tiger Woods is a round away from ending his worst year with a familiar finish.

Woods regained control with three straight birdies early in his round, then finished with a shot that covered the flag for a tap-in birdie Saturday that gave him a 4-under 68 in the Chevron World Challenge.

It was the first time all year that Woods has posted four straight rounds in the 60s, dating to his final-round 65 in Australia. What mattered was keeping his four-shot lead over U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell (69).

No one else was within eight shots of the lead, and Woods has never lost a tournament that he has led by at least three shots going into the final round.

Woods, who has gone more than a year without winning - or even close to winning - was at 17-under 199. He won the last two times he played Sherwood Country Club, where he is the tournament host, missing in 2008 after knee surgery and last year when his personal life was caving in around him.

But after eight months of looking like an ordinary player, he is starting to resemble the guy who has won 82 times around the world and 14 majors. It was his lowest score and largest lead after 54 holes since the BMW Championship last year, which he won by eight.

LPGA Tour Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - South Korea's Amy Yang shot a 1-over 73 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead over Sweden's Maria Hjorth with one round left in the season-ending LPGA Tour Championship.

Yang had a 6-under 210 total at Grand Cypress Golf Club. Hjorth shot a 71.

Cristie Kerr, needing a first victory to become the first American in 16 years to win the LPGA Tour player of the year award, was three strokes back after a 71. South Korea's Seon Hwa Lee (73) also was 3 under.

Nedbank Golf Challenge

SUN CITY, South Africa (AP) - Top-ranked Lee Westwood shot a 1-under 71 on Saturday to take a five-stroke lead over fellow Englishman Ross Fisher and South Africa's Tim Clark in the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Westwood had a 13-under 203 total on the Gary Player Country Club course. He shot a 64 in the second round and has made only three bogeys in the first three rounds.

Australian Open

SYDNEY (AP) - Geoff Ogilvy won the Australian Open on Sunday for his second professional victory in his home country, closing with a 3-under 69 for a four-stroke victory.

Ogilvy had a 19-under 269 total at The Lakes. The 2006 U.S. Open champion won the 2008 Australian PGA for his only other professional victory Down Under.

Alistair Presnell (67) and Matt Jones (68) tied for second, Jordan Sherratt (67) and John Senden (69) followed at 12 under, and American David Oh (69) was in a group at 11 under. Sherratt was making his pro debut.
