Holiday concerts on tap at Miller Performing Arts Center

Holiday music will fill the Miller Performing Arts Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this week.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be among the fun and festive music presented by the Jefferson City High School concert band at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

That ensemble will share the stage with the freshman percussion ensemble and two jazz bands.

Then at 7 p.m. Thursday, the Jefferson City Community Symphonic Band will join the high school Symphonic Wind Ensemble for a combination concert of traditional and holiday literature.

The high school orchestra will join the wind ensemble for the Hanukkah tribute “The Eighth Candle.”

That concert also will include a fanfare of “Adeste Fidelis,” “Folksong Suite” by Ralph Vaughn Williams and “The New World Variations” by David Schaefer, who recently visited the band’s rehearsal.
