Missouri election results official from Nov. 2
Wednesday, December 1, 2010
Republican Congressman Roy Blunt officially has been elected to the U.S. Senate, defeating Democratic Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.
State election officials on Tuesday certified the results from the Nov. 2 election. Blunt received 1.1 million votes compared to Carnahan’s 790,000. More than 1.9 million ballots were cast in the race.
The other top vote-getter was a narrowly approved ballot measure that adds new restrictions for dog breeders. It was approved with 51.6 percent of the vote.
State election officials say 46.9 percent of registered voters cast a ballot during the election.
Candidates who lost by less than 1 percentage point can request a re-count within one week. Elections officials have 20 days from that request to count the votes again and certify the results.
