2 arrested, third sought in Osage meth raid

Osage County authorities recently took two people into custody and are still searching for a third in a methamphetamine-making investigation.

According to sheriff's department reports, during the late night hours of Aug. 21, deputies responded to Morton's Bluff Trail off Route D near Belle for a report of methamphetamine activity.

Deputies observed three subjects walk out of one cabin and toward the woods. One subject, who was identified as Douglas A. Wicklund, was attempting to destroy evidence of manufacturing meth. Wicklund was taken into custody; he is also a parole absconder wanted on three felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant.

Deputies located the remaining two subjects about one hour later.

Deputies made contact with Jason D. Brooks, formerly from Michigan and also a parole absconder, and David J. George of Edgar Springs. Both subjects were in possession of methamphetamine and items related to its manufacturing.

George was taken into custody, but Brooks eluded officers in a foot chase.
