Tipton falls short of making title game for third straight year

TIPTON, Mo. -- For the third straight time and fifth under Tipton head coach Tony Braby, the Cardinals failed to break through to the championship contest, dropping a 49-21 decision to Valle Catholic in Saturday's Class 1 semifinal game.

The third-ranked Warriors (14-0), who will take on Penney in the championship game Saturday in St. Louis, displayed a balanced attack against the Cardinals, racking up 526 yards of total offense.

But Tipton (13-1, ranked fifth) hung in there with the powerhouse from Ste. Genevieve for nearly two quarters.
