Myra Jackson travels the Renn Addition Jefftran transit line five days a week to get to work.

She is part of the 10 percent of Jefferson City residents who use the city's transit system on a regular basis.

Jackson hasn't owned a vehicle in nearly seven years and thinks Jefftran operates in a timely manner.

The city's bus system is a money-loser for the city, which is typically the case for cities.

" In almost every area Columbia is lagging behind Jefferson City(crime rate, ciy and county budgets,infra-structure,city and county roads, school budget) but we might want to see how they are able to run their busses without raising fares while charging students only half of what we do They may be in the same shape we are,but it could be worth a look.Jack Deeken "

" How can our State Capitol have a failing public transit system unless it is just being mismanaged?

Columbia Public Transit is doing just fine although they need to run more routes to more places but that takes time. "

" I rode the city bus system many years ago, and it worked well for me until they went from 1/2 hour to 1 hour stops. On raiiny and cold days I just couldn't handle it. Sometimes even the heat was too much just standing at a bus stop. With the service stopping so early, if you work anywhere after 6:00 PM you cannot get home. I actually worked for the state, but not everyone in my family did and they just couldn't use the service. They could get to work but often needed a ride home. So they drove instead. "

" Prayerfully, this public transportation can contine it's valued service. So many people depend on this, their only transportation. Hopeful;y the city can continue the old routes, but maybe find new routes that can be utilized by others who need transportation. Please, don't even think about doing away with the bus system. "
