Seniors want to go out on winning note at home

COLUMBIA -- It's time to say good-bye to the Missouri Tiger seniors.

They don't want to go out with a four-game home losing streak, or it might be good riddance.

"It will be Senior Day for us and that's a big deal around here," Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said as the Tigers (6-4, 3-4 Big 12) get set to host the Iowa State Cyclones (6-4, 2-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faurot Field (no TV).

"We want to honor our seniors on their last time playing at 'The Zou.' Our fans, the last couple of experiences, haven't been very good there, so we certainly owe them a better effort than we've done in the past.

"And we're trying to play two good games in a row, we haven't done that yet this year."

The Tigers haven't won a home game in more than two months, since they beat Division-II Furman on Sept. 19.

They've lost three straight at home for the first time since 2004 -- a blowout loss to Texas, sandwiched around blowing second-half leads in losses to Nebraska and Baylor.

"I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks now," senior receiver Danario Alexander said. "My time is coming to an end and it's kind of bittersweet. I'm sure emotions will be flying everywhere, but I've got to try to contain them and play my best game."
