If you go to the 40th Annual Mid-Mo Old Car Club Show during Saturday's Oktoberfest, you'll see the third 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air that Bill Bonnot has owned.

Bonnot said the car holds a special place in his heart because he had one in high school and sold that car before going off to fight in Vietnam. After he got back he bought another one, but later sold it.

"It took about three to four months to get this one refurbished," he said.

You'll find a lot of similar stories like Bonnot's among the members of the car club. He said there are five or six clubs in Jefferson City and all are welcome to come to this show.

"Some cars you can buy replacement parts for, but the challenge is finding all the correct parts," he said.

Bonnot said the Mid-Mo club is more for those who have stock original cars. Members come from all parts of Mid-Missouri and range in age from their teens through 91.

Currently, Bonnot is working to refurbish a 1936 Dodge Coupe.

"I've traveled to several places to find parts," he said. "I went to Hershey, Pa. looking for some items for the '36. On the '57, you could get a lot of options, They came with several different engines."

Bonnot said people come up to him at these shows and talk about the cars they used to own.

"Always get some that wish they had it back," he said.

The car show will be held at the intersection of Dunklin and Broadway streets. Classes are for stock original vehicles through 1992.

Registration the day of the show is $12 per vehicle and goes from 8-11 a.m. Judging starts at 11 a.m. Trophy presentations start after 3 p.m.
