Arrest made in theft from trailer manufacturer

Published: Thursday, August 27, 2009 3:39 PM CDT
A Holts Summit man has been arrested in connection with the theft of several tools at Doolittle Trailer Manufacturing earlier this month.

According to Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane, Christopher R. Koepke, 23, is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a charge of burglary. He was arrested around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies investigating a stolen vehicle developed information regarding Koepke's involvement in the Doolittle theft on Aug. 17 and some of the tools were recovered. Koepke had been interviewed on Aug. 20 and denied any involvement in the incident.

However, after new information was obtained, Koepke made statements admitting his guilt in the crime and told deputies where they could recover more of the stolen tools.

The investigation is continuing.

The equipment taken in the incident was reportedly valued at around $20,000 and forced the trailer operation to shut down production for one day. The tools included cordless drills, floor drills, grinders, wrenches and sockets.
