CCFPD puts six new fire trucks into service

Published: Wednesday, August 19, 2009 2:35 PM CDT
The Cole County Fire Protection District recently put into service six new fire trucks as part of a plan to upgrade service.

A new engine/pumper and a new brush truck are being housed at the district's station at County Park.

Two new tankers and two brush trucks are being housed at the district's station at Brazito and Monticello off U.S. 54.

It cost the district $500,000 to get the new trucks.

The district has a seven-year program with Jefferson Bank to lease the equipment.

Some of the older trucks have been sold.

"We've got 32 pieces of equipment and we have to replace them or else they get old quick," said Fire Chief Donnie Braun.

Braun said they were able to modify the brush truck to handle some heavier pieces of equipment so they can access narrow private drives that they couldn't with bigger pieces of equipment.
