Vaughn looking to turn around struggling Lincoln program

When Katie Vaughn accepted the job as the women's basketball coach at Lincoln University, it didn't take long for her to realize she made the right decision.

"I'm a firm believer everything happens for a reason, and our house sold in three days in Moberly and we bought a house two days later, and it usually doesn't work that quickly," Vaughn said.

The 29-year-old coach comes to the Blue Tigers from Moberly Area Community College, where she spent the past three years as head coach after two years as an assistant.

Vaughn leaves behind an established MACC program with a history of success for a Lincoln program that hasn't had a winning season since 2003-04. And before that, you have to go all the way back to 1988-89 for another winning campaign.

"I thought to myself that was a good goal for me to have, to build a program instead of being involved with a good program -- doing something for myself."
