In every grade school building in the Jefferson City School District, students this week will find new classrooms for full-day kindergarten and new or expanded library/ media centers.

And in Apache Flats, an entirely new school.

But the most obvious change at Jefferson City High School is a person -- Paul "Jeff" Dodson is the new principal, at the start of only his second year with the district.

"Secondary schools in general run on emotion, and that can be a very powerful, positive thing," Dodson told a reporter last week. "It's imperative that (students) understand that we do care, and this is an investment in their future to prepare them for life after high school."

" I agree Mr Dodson MUST stand firm if the kids can not dress right and act right KEEP the out of the school!! And for you Mr Bus Driver sorry you don't get any support! I would not want your job for one day. I am sure you don"t get the respect you deserve. I say rules should be the same for school as riding the bus, if they can not act right walk or ride the city bus. "

" STAND FIRM on the decency and dress code... don't allow any PROFANITY (like the staff usually does), and don't allow THUGS and nasty-looking sagging pants, OR those daisy duke shorts that the staff allows the girls to wear... stand firm and DON'T SLACK OFF! "
