Green Thumbs-Up for Country Living Showcased at the Missouri State Fair

SEDALIA, MO ---- Tips on arranging fresh-cut flowers, creating water lily gardens and growing plants that flourish in Missouri are just a few of the Floriculture Building demonstrations planned for this year's Missouri State Fair. These exhibits and many others covering a vast range of interests are among a new focus at the Fair referenced as the Rural Lifestyles Showcase.

"For years, the Floriculture Building has attracted garden enthusiasts with its array of potted plants and floral arrangements," Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe said. "This year visitors to the Fair can take home more practical advice from experts in horticulture to Missouri wines."

The Rural Lifestyles Showcase puts the spotlight on a wide variety of country living experiences in an effort to broaden the appeal of the Fair beyond the traditional audience of farm families.

Consumer energy trends, outdoor recreation and sensible living are among the topics to be demonstrated. Other exhibits that will be a central part of the Showcase include the farmer's market in the Agriculture Building and going green exhibits in the Missouri Electric Cooperative Building.

Building schedules and a vendor list are now available on the Rural Lifestyles Showcase Web page www.mostatefair.com/rurallife.html, and also online are daily guide activity schedules.

The Missouri State Fair August 13 to 23 in Sedalia promises to be "MOre Fun Than Ever!" with its new focus on country living and its continued commitment to affordable family entertainment.
