Education officials meet on campus safety

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Education officials from across Missouri are gathering in Columbia to discuss campus safety and hear firsthand accounts from survivors of campus shootings.

The Missouri School Boards' Association's third annual conference on campus safety and security opens Thursday. Scheduled speakers include students and administrators from Northern Illinois University, the University of Central Arkansas and Northwest Missouri State University.

Each of those schools experienced a campus shooting in recent years.

The conference will also feature a retired FBI agent who specializes in threat assessments and an Israeli anti-terrorism expert.
