A Cole County Jury took about three-and-a-half hours Thursday afternoon to find a Jefferson City man guilty of first-degree burglary and attempted first-degree robbery for an incident last December.

The jury also found Joshua Turner, 24, guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm since he is a convicted felon.

The jury acquitted Turner on charges of first-degree assault, assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of armed criminal action.

Cole County Judge Pat Joyce ordered a pre-sentence investigation and expected to have a sentencing hearing within 45 days.

Turner was charged with being involved in a shooting and robbery in the 400 block of Hess Way.

Testimony focuses on relationship

Testimony continued Thursday morning in the trial of a Jefferson City man charged with burglary, robbery and assault.

Much of the testimony Wednesday focused on the relationship between the accused, Joshua Turner, 24, and the victim, Tremaine Bell.

Bell currently is serving prison time for violating his parole on drug and weapons charges.

Bell was alone at the time of the incident on Dec. 30 at 413 Hess Way. He said Turner came to the front door of the residence and was asking for directions to Lincoln University.
