As combat troops thin their numbers in Iraq, Master Sgt. Troy Hoskins is training with the Military Transition Team Forward 142 element for a year's support mission in that country.

With 26 years in the military, between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Missouri National Guard, Hoskins said he wants to be a good role model for the Iraqi troops he will be teaching and mentoring on his first overseas deployment.

Following a Friday afternoon deployment ceremony at the Ike Skelton Training Site, Hoskins left with about 10 other Missouri Guardsmen for their final training at Fort Riley, Kan., where they will join another 400 soldiers from other states and branches of service.
