Accident pile drives wrestler's career, turns him toward life as writer

Matt Murphy pursues his writing career with the same fervor he displayed in the ring. He often masks his writing projects by using a pseudonym.

Former WLW wrestler Matt Murphy's childhood dreams of becoming a professional wrestler were won and lost, but he claims that true victory came in the role the sport played in transforming his life.

In his book, "The Story of a Nobody, and the Pursuit to Become a Somebody," the Lake of the Ozarks area resident describes a childhood steeped in poverty, constantly moving from town to town with his transient, party-loving mother. He and his brother were shuffled between family members, foster homes and schools, attending 13 schools during his first-grade year alone.
