Human remains found in Miller County

Published: Monday, January 5, 2009 4:26 PM CST
Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott said investigators from his department found human remains at a location outside Eldon while acting on a tip.

On Jan. 3, the department received a call from a Miller County resident who said they had found what they believed to be human remains.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the location given by the caller and launched a search that lasted seven hours.

More human remains were discovered at the location, however Abbott said he believes the remains were all part of the same body.

He said at this time it is impossible to determine the gender, age or cause of death, but said the investigation is ongoing.

Abbott declined to comment further on the investigation.

" I still haven't heard where the remains were found. At one point I thought they said it was found on private property. Other reports have said "under a bridge" and the news showed a clip of the bridge that appeared to be a gravel road bridge. Were they in fact found on private property or not. I would think that might have a bearing on potential suspects, if they were found on private property. "

" They mentioned it last night and then went on to say how many individuals were missing in this area. Lets face it, it could be anyone. One of the missing had drug connections in Eldon (not these two). Look on KRCG's website, maybe they have the new report on it. "

" In the article by KRCG 13 it was written

"Sheriff Bill Abbott says Mathews is the only person missing from Miller County. He has long suspected foul play in her disappearance."

Why didn't he mention Tammy Rothganger, who has been missing for over 24 years from Eldon --- last time I checked that was in Miller County.

So the question is to be asked is Sheriff Abbott just inept or is there more to the story? "

" ***KRCG reported there is another girl from the Eldon area that was missing. Brandi (Mitchell???). They were leaning towards thinking it might be her. "****

I never even heard of this girl, But when i 1st seen this the 1st person to come to mind was a girl i went to school with in Eldon back in the 80's Tammy Rothganger.
Whoever it is my heart goes out to the Family. "

" How sad...can you imagine finding a body or a skeleton just walking your dog or walking through a wooded area? That would freak me out!

I think they'll do the logical thing and compare dental records with Brandi first, if that's not it, then they'll go to other missing persons in the state and compare.

At least the family of this person will know, but that doesn't make it any easier. My condolences to whomever the family and friends of this person are... "

" Could it be the Yarnell woman missing from Ivy Bend. Isn't that around Miller County? Her husband admitted he disposed of the body but so far they have not found her where he says he left her. Yuo never know. Eldon and the Lake are a big drug haven, who knows where that body came from or how long it has been there. "
