Two Jefferson City couples are proud they're making a difference in the lives of their adopted children and all the kids they've fostered.

The Chestnuts: As foster care parents in Jefferson City, Betty and Wayne Chesnut have cared for 449 children since 1976. Two of those children were adopted into their family, although many of the former foster children still consider the Chesnut household as home.

The Giarratanos: For Caryn and David Giarratano, the successful adoption of their two children has brought a sense of wonderment, peace and completion to their lives. But it hasn't always been an easy undertaking.

Adoption Exchange: Families who are interested in adoption can learn more about the process - and view biographies of available children - through The Adoption Exchange, which maintains a Web site featuring kids in several states who may be available for adoption.
