Spicer latched onto the Wall of Honor idea from Sunday's Operation: Bugle Boy, where Jefferson City High School students hosted a USO-style dinner and dance and decorated with more than 270 photos of local veterans and current service members.
From her grandfathers who served in World War II to a fellow Missouri National Guardsman who made the ultimate sacrifice on a volunteer deployment, Spicer named many service members and their families who have inspired her personally and professionally.
Spicer has been the Public Affairs Officer for the Missouri National Guard since 1999. She has deployed with the U.S. Army for Operation Desert Storm, where she was a military analyst and Russian linguist, and also for Operation Iraqi Freedom as the executive officer for the Guard's 1221st Transportation Company.
“Being a veteran is more than just a title,” Spicer said. “It means sharing a bond that cannot be broken.”
