Felony drug charges filed after arrests in High Point

Published: Saturday, November 8, 2008 7:26 AM CST
Five drug-related arrests in the High Point area have resulted in felony charges of possession of controlled substance.

According to Moniteau County Sheriff Jay Gump, the arrests were the result of an anonymous tip Monday that a male suspect wanted in connection with a probation and parole warrant was hiding in a High Point area home.

Upon arrival at the residence, investigators obtained consent to search the home and discovered 22 bags of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, Gump said Kenneth McDaniel was charged with once count of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class B felony.

McDaniels' bond was set at $100,000.

Scott Lange also was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class B felony. Lange's bond was set at $75,000.

Lean Shoemaker was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony and bond was set at $50,000.

Michael Shoemaker was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony. His bond also was set at $50,000.

Shaun Porter was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony. Porter's bond was set at $50,000.

This does NOT affect my girls-they have no idea the kind of person their dad became(they live off good memories& pics of him) &that's all they'll ever know. Its time he paid 4 his actions!! Regardless, may God b w them all. "

" K. McDaniel has had a rough way to go. He is family. I guess his demons are stronger than he is. He is a good hearted person, just chose the wrong path in life. It breaks my heart to see this, although I am not in any way condoning the behavior. He and Scott both have children, my heart goes out to the kids who have had their lives turned upside down by repeated stupid behavior. "

" of course the police have a scale, they brought it from home haha. It just means that with it all in separate baggies it is also a sales charge instead of a possession charge alone. One more thing to keep them in jail or headed to prison. Hopefully not just probation. I know for Scott it is not a first time in any of those categories, possession, jail or prison. Looks like none of the above worked. "

" Don't the authorities have a scale? 22 bags could be a ton or 22 small amounts. I am not being picky but I just want the real facts. "
