Published: Friday, October 3, 2008 8:10 AM CDT
AVA, Mo. (AP) - A 69-year-old woman is facing charges after a National Guard helicopter used for marijuana eradication was fired upon in rural southwest Missouri.

A Highway Patrol news release said a Missouri National Guard pilot and a state trooper were flying over rural Douglas County Wednesday morning when the aircraft was shot at. A trooper on the ground located the woman, who admitted that she fired upon the helicopter as it flew overhead.

She was taken to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department and held pending charges.

There were no injuries and no damage to the chopper. The investigation continues.

" I'd like to declare a no-fly zone over my property. Sometimes we get a false sense of privacy and when I'm the only one home...well I may need that privacy.
Hot air baloons are the worst, they're too quiet. She could have done some real damage to one of those.
Can't wait to hear her story. "

The new equiptment they have now they can locate a single plant where in the past it would have to be a patch to be seen from the air. I know this because they left a card in a stalk for my reference.
My how time flies! "

" I would sure like to hear her side of the story. With all the craziness in the world its hard to tell what she was thinking. Are the National Guard heli's black?

On another note: I wonder if MAC will get the blame for this one too. "
