The signal has been missing since July 2, when the old retransmission agreement expired and KRCG's owners - Chicago-based Barrington Broadcasting - declined to continue their permission for DISH to carry the Channel 13 signal.
“Barrington Broadcasting Group has reached a new agreement to allow its signals to be retransmitted by DISH Network,” the two companies announced in a news release Thursday afternoon.
“The new agreement ensures that Barrington's television stations, including KRCG-TV in the Jefferson City-Columbia market, will be available on both local-into-local and HDTV services of DISH Network.”
Francie Bauer, DISH Network's corporate communications manager, said Thursday that KRCG was “already back up and running.”
After the KRCG signal was dropped from the DISH system in July, there was a war of words between the two companies - and KRCG carried messages in its broadcasts and on its Web site encouraging viewers to switch from DISH to DirecTV.
In an interview at the beginning of the fight, Leo Henning, Barrington Broadcasting's regional vice president, told the News Tribune: “They pay us pennies on what they charge their customers ... and we've asked for a few pennies more, and that's it.”
In mid-July, DISH Network issued a news release charging: “KRCG continues its unreasonable demands, preventing DISH Network viewers from watching CBS.”
When asked Thursday how the dispute was resolved, Bauer said in an e-mail: “We're not really commenting.”
K. James Yager, Barrington's CEO, said: “Barrington's stations will receive appropriate compensation for the value it brings to DISH Network.
“We regret the inconvenience to DISH Network subscribers caused by the removal of the KRCG signal in Columbia-Jefferson City.”
