Guilty plea in stolen Daniel Boone plaque

WARRENTON, Mo. - A 27-year-old eastern Missouri man is sentenced to 120 days in jail for stealing the bronze plaque that marked the St. Charles County grave site of pioneer Daniel Boone.
KSDK-TV reported Tuesday that Matthew Burgoyne pleaded guilty earlier this month to stealing the plaque and selling the marker as scrap at a salvage yard.
The plaque was a gift from the Daughters of the American Revolution and marked the burial site of Boone and his wife near Marthasville.
Officials estimate it will cost more than $10,000 to replace the marker. Burgoyne reportedly got less than $100 for the scrap.
