" boscoe,
They must just be getting lazy, you can teach a three day rookie, or for that matter a circus monkey to recover latent prints. It is true that the effort rarely yields results, contrary to what you see on the cop tv shows. However, I always feel that its good PR if nothing else. "

" How are the parents held accountable? If a minor is arrested they go into juv. system, if they get into more trouble it's handled by the juv. system. Where/how is the parent accountable. The only instance I know of parents being accountable is in some states where parents can be fined/jailed for their kid(s)' excessive, unauthorized absences from school. "

Both of them are just like the projects these days. "

" Is it true that JCPD doesn't dust for fingerprints because they don't have anyone qualified to take fingerprints? A buddy told me that they are too embarrassed to call in the highway patrol crime scene people to dust for fingerprints when there is a break-in or a car stolen.

I know a person who had her car stolen last month, and another person who had a break-in at her apartment and burglery. Both of them told me that the JCPD were very laid-back and didn't take any photos or finger prints, or even try to catch the perps. What's up with that? Cops don't even fight crime anymore in JC? "

" I'm sorry, but WHAT parents? One or both are more than likely MIA, and that is what drives these youths to do this stuff. "

" ODF, aren't parents already held accountable? I always thought they were and that's what I always told my kids. Even if they were'nt afraid of the law (but they were) they were afraid of me getting in trouble with the law and more so what the consequenses would be for them. As they grew up I made it clear if they ever got arrested not to waste their only phone call on me. If they are stupid enough to violate someone's property then they need to sit in jail awhile and think about it. "

" I used to live in randall, and made the mitake of signing a one year lease there some time ago. It didnt take me long to realize that it was a mistake. On any given night, you could stare down the road from your bedroom window and watch sheriffs sorting out a domestic dispute. It was like Live Cops. Same couple of buildings every time.... makes ya wonder huh? There needs to be breeding standards on people like there are on any other breed. Ever heard of spay and neuter? "

" ODF wrote "Nothing like raising kids to believe it's better to steal from others than work for what you want!"

What are you talking about ODF, stealing IS hard work. What with all the occupational hazards, jail, neck, back, and knee injuries with no workman's comp, and that pesky carry/conceal law.

If it's the same punks that were operating in WV Heights not to long ago, you can bet they will only move down the street a few blocks and carry on. Hopefully, the PD is smart enough to realize that and increase the patrols in that area of the city.

Baseball bat across the head will leave an impression. "

" Poe - I agree with you on a certain level. Not all kids are bad and not all parents have a hands-off approach to parenting. But take a good look around...ill-mannered, rude kids and indifferent parents are fast becoming the norm as opposed to the exception.

If the kids are juveniles, then they should have been HOME, IN BED and THAT is the parent's responsibility. Only time my siblings and I were allowed to stay out all night was a RARE occasion when we were seniors (over 18) and had definite plans and we darn sure knew we stuck to those plans. "

" Leeannenet: You need to run for judge. You'd get my vote!

Your ideas are much better than the current practice of letting them plead down to nothing, or else throwing the book at them by giving them a few month's of probation. "

" I say catch them in the act and break their arms lil creeps someone needs to show KIDS these day what real TORTURE is kids today (well not all) are such punks and just look at adults like what are you gonna do? I'd break their arms slam them in the car door teach them to break into someones car...... get a job kid "

" I was at St Mary's Ped's clinic today and when I was leaving all the nurses were talking about a stranger in their parking lot that had gotten into their cars while I was there. My doors were locked, but overheard some of them say their cars had been gotten into. This was in DAYLIGHT at about 10 this morning. This is crazy. "

" "Punks is right". Please be careful out there. There are nice law abiding citizens that live there but they have problems in the area. My son moved from there. Some guys followed him and a friend home late one night all the way to his door and we are sure they planned to strong arm them. He never had anything stolen but sure worried about it. I did a slow burn when I read about your clubs and we know how much golf clubs are. So sorry about your experience, I hope that your ins. takes care of it. Punks. "

" I differ with ODF as far as the parent thing goes. MOST parents raise their children teaching them right from wrong, manners, and to be respectful of people and their belongings, and some parents don't. However, as a parent you CAN NOT be with your children 24/7, you pray and hope your child does the right thing and thinks before they act. Not all incidents that involve juvies are the parents "fault" as most would say. The child may get in the "wrong" crowd until something bad happens and they realize the people aren't friends like they thought. "

" I was one of the vehicles on ventura avenue. I walked out around midnight to drive my young daughter around to put her to sleep and as we went to the car we scared them apparently and they ran off. Once I checked I realized they stole a handheld GPS and all of my golf equipment out of my trunk worth to much for me to replace. I would love to catch the punks who dont realize it takes years to work and make enough for a nice set of clubs. If anyone knows about it please call JCPD and teach these kids a lesson. "

ODF wrote on Aug 26, 2008 1:21 PM:

" Nothing like raising kids to believe it's better to steal from others than work for what you want! When juvies get arrested, the parents need to start being held accountable as well. Maybe that would help enforce the idea of actually being a parent to children you bring into this world. "
