Cole County Judge Pat Joyce recently revoked the probation of two men and sentenced them to 120 days shock detention in prison.

Travis Hurst, 31, 310 Travis Court, pled guilty to possession of anhydrous ammonia in a non-approved container in May 2005.

And in a separate case, Willie Moses, 28, pled guilty to selling cocaine in September 2004.

In other recent court action, Joyce:

* Sentenced a Loose Creek man to three years in prison, with the condition that sentence run concurrent to the sentence he is currently serving. Scotty Bax, 38, pled guilty to possession of Oxycontin in June, court records said.

* Sentenced an inmate at the Jefferson City Correctional Center to five years in prison after he pled guilty to two counts of violence against an employee of the Department of Corrections. Cedric Exum, 44, was charged in October 2006.

* Sentenced a Centertown woman to 120 days shock incarceration in prison after she pled guilty to forgery. Holly Winkler, 24, was charged in July.

* Placed a Jefferson City man on two years' supervised probation after he pled guilty to second-degree domestic assault. Christopher Weirich, 36, 1409 E. Miller St., was charged September 2007.

* Placed a Jefferson City woman on five years' supervised probation after she pled guilty to fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance. Michelle Hemme, 41, 5608 Ravenwood, was charged in August 2007.

Cole County Judge Jon Beetem recently placed a Columbia man on five years' supervised probation after he pled guilty to stealing more than $83,000 from a Jefferson City business.

Joshua Evans, 29, was charged with felony theft for reportedly taking money from the safe at Slackers, 2525 Missouri Blvd., from July 2006 through January of this year.

The Cole County Grand Jury this week indicted a Jefferson City man on one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of sexual misconduct.

According to court records, Bruce Nevins, 57, 7131 Heritage Highway, is accused of exposing a girl under the age of 14 to sexual contact between December 2003 and December 2004 and exposing himself to the victim between March 2006 and March 2007.

" No one, you need to get your sister and dad fixed up with a consceal and carry. I agree he will do it again. Nothing but trouble- pure evil.

Good luck and may God bless. "

" Noone: Just to clarify... It appears that is the correct first and last name, but thanks for the extra clarification. If we discover a defendant commonly goes by his middle name or a nickname, we'd use that information accordingly, but that's a variation we wouldn't necessarily learn from court. --Rick Brown, online editor, News Tribune "

" first the paper printed a name wrong in the article. It was Chester "Danny" Weirich who was sentenced to Probation for domestic assault. Second it was my sister who was beaten and also my Father. As soon as he get off probation he will do this again, So what will Judge Joyce do next time if he Happens to kill someone ? Thanks Judge Joyce. "

" Actually the Evans case does have to pay restitution. He was sued in a civil case by Slackers and also faces Grand Jury indictment and criminal charges. He will be paying back his victims for a long time. I don't know how he would pay this business back if he were doing time. It's just that every word of court business is not printed in the paper. That would take up the whole paper. "

" Confessed child molesters get off with no punishment.

A guy who has a bad habit of beating the hell out of his wife and who has four pages on CASENET gets probation for his latest stunt.

Criminal Justice around here sure is nutty. "

" You are right this is not good law as normal.
Sometimes it is who you are or how much you can pay, I noticed there is no name to be found here. "

" "Shiny" - I agree lets go get us some money too! Probation. Says nothing about paying it back. They would throw me away and lose the key. Somebody got lucky.

As I have said before, we need NEW Judges in JC. "
