Local girl added to national missing list

Bailey Vieth has been missing since July 29.

Published: Monday, August 18, 2008 4:14 PM CDT
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) issued a nationwide bulletin Saturday asking for assistance in locating a missing Jefferson City child.

Bailey Vieth, 11, was reported missing by her family July 29. She was last seen at her home on Cassidy Road, just south of Jefferson City.

Law enforcement officials in Cole County said Friday a task force has been formed to assist with the investigation into Vieth's disappearance.

Officials said the investigation is not being treated as a stranger abduction and investigators believe there are people who have information about Bailey and her whereabouts that are not involved with in her disappearance.

Vieth is described as four-feet tall, weighing about 90 pounds, with long, dark hair.

Anyone with information about Vieth should contact the Cole County Sheriff's Department at 634-9160 or NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678). Calls are confidential and may be made anonymously.

" cont-
No offense to "Honest" single mothers etc. This case and many other cases of Mom's hiding & taking the child(ren)intentionally because they did'nt win full custody etc. They intentually try to file in 90 days another state or another circuit County seat,to interfer, disrupt, & manipulate with the visitation rights of the Orginal custody orders & guidelines.

The Govenor was on the right track to change the Divorce custody guidelines where parents divorcing have to have 1 yr of family & divorce counseling & Most important the parents cannot leave Jurisdiction in that Circuit etc. This Statues needs to become an automatic Felony for all parents who hide, abscound,Kidnapp, who do not file 90 day motion for relocation Hearing & custodial jurdiction assestment etc. "

" dnev,
I guess you know Bailey Dad,Ask him if he's motioned for Full Sole Physical Custody with supervised visitation?

In what this case sofar entails , It would be defintely in Bailey's & your best Interest atleast until she 18 yrs old or out of College. That are the choices when the Child maint. runs out or Changes for college etc.

Mo.Child Custody Laws are very indepth for most part & tricky with procedures. I know! I had to fight to get my Child Back from parental abcounding(kidnapping)back in to state of Missouri in proper jurisdiction where i reside & took 5 1/2 yrs & 12,000.00 by the time I was awarded custody back here in Mo., Let me know. " That doesn't seem to be the situation here, check out case net. I think it is reverse. It is not always the woman who play acts and whines. Check out PAS - parents against parental alienation. There are alot of sick men AND women who reduce a child's life to game playing. It's sick and not acceptable, irregardless of gender. Too many times, custody disputes are fueled by child support and ego. "

WhatJustice wrote on Aug 20, 2008 1:27 PM:

" A lot of act when they get into court. I have worked with many families over the years when it comes to children and divorce. As a woman I am sick of having women want and expect certain things from the system and wine and cry about how bad they have it. A woman always has the upper hand when it comes to getting the kids - always - no matter what type of mother she has been. I think in most cases the mother is a better fit but the courts don't even want to look at the facts - they just hand the kids to the mom. I hope this little girl is safe and is returned verysoon. "

" I agree with gofish - an Amber Alert usually alerts motorists to look for a specific vehicle with a specific license plate number. Do we have that here? "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 19, 2008 4:51 PM:

" Also, from what I have read and heard, the child is apparently not with the mother. It's been hinted the Mother knows where she is...?
I would think it would be a good idea for the Father's phone records and computers to be looked at... "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 19, 2008 4:48 PM:

" WhatJustice - this isn't always the case. There are father's out there who lie, play games, and cause chaos just "to win". With out regard to what affect it has on the child.
It really boils down to who is the better actor in the court room....and who doesn't have a conscience.
In my case - the same Father who was so concerned in front of the judge, is the same Father who said getting my child's meds was my problem because I had custody. To many actors, not enough parents. "

WhatJustice wrote on Aug 19, 2008 4:24 PM:

" What people fail to realize is how many mothers can say and do whatever they want to keep kids away from their fathers and actually get away with it. I for one would love for the father of my children interested in his kids. Woman can walk into a court room and say they have been abused and it sticks. No questions no nothing from the judge or anyone else. Women need to allow the fathers to be apart of their lives. If this was a man that took off with their little girl - the girl would have already been returned to the mother and the man would be in jail! Where is the justice>????????? "

" shinymcshine wrote "I'm not sure what you think an Amber is going to do that a standard BOLO won't do."

I believe Amber alerts recieve more geographically widespread attention and generally captivate the eyes/ears of the general public, especially those with parents of children around the same age.

Not using every available resource to find a missing child is like not sending enough fire trucks to a fire. The damage can be more severe and lives can be lost.

Even if the child is believed to be physically okay, the child may be suffering from emotional and psychological abuse, which can affect the child the rest of their life, long after any physical wounds will heal. "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 19, 2008 11:24 AM:

" Since the FBI is involved, I am sure that it has been entered into their system (NCIC). By law, the entry could have been made within 2 hours. "

" An Amber Alert has specific criteria. If there are no leads, I'm not sure what you think an Amber is going to do that a standard BOLO won't do. "

gofish wrote on Aug 19, 2008 9:40 AM:

" A step in the right direction, that is good.

Will LE in other jurisdictions be notified by NCMEC or does an NCIC entry still need to be made? "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 19, 2008 9:14 AM:

" fyreyez - yes, I know whatthe -01 means. If the local L.E. had followed the "advice" of NCMEC - would Bailey be home by now. "

" Her mother suddenly stopped going to work, no calls to her employer, just a no show for the last three weeks or so. Shes not cooperating with authorities, who have seized the computer and phone she used at work. "

fyreyez wrote on Aug 19, 2008 9:04 AM:

" The fact that an Amber Alert has still not been issued is a fact I think Law Enforcement is really missing. This girl, obviously, did not just run away. She is missing and has been taken by someone. Issue the Amber Alert and make the public more aware of the actual situation that is out there. TOO many times children are taken during custody disputes. Look at the two kids whose remains were found AFTER their father had taken them, killed them, and refused to say anything. He didn't want to give his ex-wife the satisfaction of knowing where the kids were. He finally admitted and showed police where he had placed them. Please don't let this happen to Bailey. "

fyreyez wrote on Aug 19, 2008 9:00 AM:

" lumps-the "01" on case.net just means that it was bound over in the court system. However, if you read through that information it shows that Bailey was in the custody of her father, who lives here in Jeff City. Her mother lives in New Bloomfield. The questions that should be asked are: "Who should the cops be looking at?" "Are they even doing anything about this?" "Was the runaway note that she allegedly left real or a set up?" "Is it possible that someone set this up for her to leave with a family member or friend to get lost for a while until one side gives up on the custody fight?" "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 19, 2008 8:44 AM:

" Mac1974, I don't know...but the poster for Bailey on the Missing Children's page said she was last seen with an "adult female relative"... "

" This child has been gone a very long time and that has me feeling very uneasy. I pray god returns this young angel unhurt and alive. I'm not trying to screw up the investigation, but will anyone answer a few questions? Who, what, where are we looking for? I'm volunteering to beat the bushes, streets or wherever to help look for Bailey. Who do I have to contact? "

Mac1974 wrote on Aug 18, 2008 8:53 PM:

" The one ending in -01 is interesting. So, you're thinking one parent ran off with child based on that case, lumps? "

lumpsinthesandbox wrote on Aug 18, 2008 8:50 PM:

" Bailey's poster is on NCMEC - and this site has some very important things to say about WHAT SHOULD BE DONE WHEN A CHILD IS MISSING, or a runaway. Including: If your local law-enforcement agency wont enter information about your child into NCICs databases, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will. The Missing Children Act of 1982 mandates this. Contact your nearest FBI field office for help.
Remember no matter what you have been told, there is no law requiring a waiting period for reporting a child, who is younger than 21, to law enforcement or for entry into NCIC. The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006" "mandates entry must be made by law enforcement into NCICs within 2 hours "
