St. Louis man drowns in Osage County lake

By The Associated Press

BONNOTS MILL, Mo. - The Missouri State Water Patrol says a 23-year-old St. Louis man died after falling out of a canoe at a private lake in Osage County.

Chance Harp and 22-year-old John McCutchen, of Bonnots Mill, were in a canoe Saturday when it capsized and threw both men into the water.

The patrol says McCutchen made it to shore to call for help.

Water patrol officers dragged the lake in Bonnots Mill around 7:15 Saturday morning and recovered Harp's body.

" Doesn't anyone believe in life jackets anymore? Esp if you can't swim...and if you can't swim, you have no business being in a canoe on the water. "
