The $200 million project will include a new hospital with 167 all-private patient rooms and other health-related facilities. Construction of the hospital is set to begin in 2010 with expected completion in the fall of 2012.
“It's a great partnership because we've got a Missouri company who knows our health care needs combined with a national leader in health care design,” said Brent VanConia, president of St. Mary's.
The Lawrence Group, headquartered in St. Louis, is one of the largest international building, architectural, planning and design firms in St. Louis.
It will be the lead architect on the St. Mary's project.
HGA is a national leader in health care design. In the last five years, the HGA firm has designed more than 18 new and replacement hospitals, including SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton, which is the replacement hospital for SSM St. Joseph of Kirkwood. HGA will guide the visioning, master site and facility planning activities.
Garf Thomas, St. Mary's vice president of projects, and Perry Hirtz, vice president of Northstar Management Co., will serve as the owner's representatives to manage the project planning and construction.
St. Mary's will select a construction-management firm and a mechanical- engineering firm by the end of the year.
