Lincoln speaker notes extra effort can change lives

Published: Friday, April 18, 2008 5:05 PM CDT
Just one person can change many lives, by taking a few extra steps, retired Lincoln University English teacher Deborah Steward told nearly 330 students at Thursday's LU Honors Convocation.

Steward encouraged the LU Honors students to continue striving to be “better than average.”

Society faces many challenges, and today's students who work hard may find solutions to those challenges in the years ahead, she said.

“We must use all our resources to reverse our nation's educational standing in the world community,” Steward said.
