LU women's track team to get award

The team, which captured the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field title last year, is one of 12 sports achievement winners to be honored during the Hall of Fame ceremonies Sunday, Feb. 10.
Also among the achievement winners is the 2007 Missouri Tigers football team.

A total of 15 individuals and two teams will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Those inductees include:
* Keith Hernandez, St. Louis Cardinal first baseman.
* Neil Smith, Kansas City Chief defensive end.
* Rod Smith, Denver Bronco and former Missouri Southern State University receiver.
* John Brown, Missouri Tiger basketball player.
* John Wathan, Kansas City Royals catcher and manager.
* Charlie Share, St. Louis Hawks basketball player.
* Rick Hummel, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter.
* Lee Thomas, St. Louis Cardinals player and Philadelphia Phillies general manager.
* Trish Kissiar-Knight, West Plains High School volleyball coach.
* Thomas Burnett, Missouri State University handball coach.
* Earl Denny, Golden City High School and University of Missouri football player.
* Jim Redd, Northwest Missouri State football player, coach and athletic director.
* George Wilson, College of the Ozarks women's basketball coach.
* Sanford "Sandy” Pomerantz, University City High School and Washington University basketball player.
* Gary O'Neal, Hardin Central High School football coach.
* The 1984 Southeast Missouri State University men's cross country NCAA Division II national championship team.
* The 1974 Southwest Missouri University's Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national championship softball team.
