Circuit court actions

Cole County Judge Richard Callahan recently sentenced a Jefferson City man to 60 days in the Cole County Jail after a jury found him guilty of first-degree property damage.

Michael Patten, 31, 121 Marshall, was found guilty of causing an estimated $3,000 in damage to a BMW convertible in August 2006 by striking it with a blunt object, breaking a windshield and damaging the convertible top.

In other recent court action, Judge Callahan:

* Released a Jefferson City man from prison after he served a 120-day shock detention sentence. Gregory Ligon, 54, 2418 Iven, was placed on five years' supervised probation. He pled guilty in August to fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance in March and October 2006.

Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce recently ordered a Jefferson City man to be placed on electronic monitoring for 60 days after he pled guilty to operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. Tywan Bates, 29, was charged in March, court records said.

In other recent court action, Joyce also placed several others on probation, including:


* Andrew Robertson, 23, Holts Summit, was placed on five years' supervised probation after he pled guilty to possession of the controlled substance Clonazepam and second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle in April 2006. This includes his guilty plea on a March charge of possessing the controlled substance Klonopin.

* Chandell Hickman, 31 Columbia, was placed on two years' unsupervised probation after he pled guilty to failing to pay child support. Hickman was charged in November 2006.

* Tirrell Jacobs, 24, 626 E. McCarty St., was placed on five years' supervised probation after he pled guilty to possessing cocaine in August 2006.

And Cole County Judge Jon Beetem recently sentenced a Jefferson City resident to 120 days shock detention in prison for violating his parole. Joicelyn Collier, 49, 3901 Dewberry, pled guilty to DWI prior offender and possession of the controlled substance Alprazolam in August 2002, court records said.
