Lower grade standards opposed

Dear Editor: “School board lowers standards, districtwide grading scale portrayed as issue of ‘fairness vs dumbing down.'” I read this in the June 12 issue of the News Tribune.

I wonder if this is in the same category as President Bush's immigration bill he is trying to push through Congress. He claims it is not an amnesty bill, which anyone with half a brain knows it is.

The school board can claim that lowering grades is not dumbing down, but the people know it is. By the way, when I went to school anything below 70 was a failing grade.

What will they do 20 years or so from now, make 50 percent passing?
